Daycare Red Deer — Licensed Montessori Childcare for Ages 0 to 6

You searched for daycare in Red Deer because you need reliable childcare before work ends and after work begins. Brainy Bees Montessori provides licensed Montessori daycare for children from infancy through preschool, with before and after school care that picks up from 9 Red Deer elementary schools. Our infant program typically has a waitlist — current availability listed below.

Why Red Deer Parents Choose Brainy Bees for Daycare

Most daycare centers in Red Deer keep children safe. We do that and more. Brainy Bees prepares children for kindergarten and life through the Montessori method — a scientific approach to education that builds independence, concentration, and a genuine love of learning.

Seven reasons parents switch to Brainy Bees:

  1. Your child actually wants to go. Melissa Gouthro’s son with Cerebral Palsy asks to come on weekends. Read her Google review below.
  2. Staff stay for years. Our lead guides average 4 years at Brainy Bees. Red Deer daycare turnover averages 8 months. Consistency matters for young children.
  3. Inclusion is real, not marketing. We have children with Cerebral Palsy, language delays, autism, and behavioral challenges in the same classrooms as neurotypical peers.
  4. School pickup is included. No other Montessori daycare in Red Deer picks up from 9 local schools. We do.
  5. The facility is clean. Every Google review from the last 12 months mentions cleanliness. Visit any daycare unannounced at 3 PM and compare.
  6. You get daily photos. We send updates with photos of your child working with Montessori materials. No guessing what they did all day.
  7. Kindergarten transition is guaranteed. Our preschoolers enter kindergarten writing their names and adding single-digit numbers. Parents tell us the transition is seamless.

Daycare Programs We Offer in Red Deer

Brainy Bees provides licensed daycare for every age from 0 to 6 years. Each program has its own classroom, lead guide, and Montessori materials appropriate for that developmental stage.

Infant Daycare Red Deer — Ages 0 to 18 Months

Ratio: 1 staff to 4 infants (exceeds Alberta minimum of 1:4)

Each infant has a primary caregiver who handles feeding, diapering, and sleep routines. Montessori infant classrooms emphasize freedom of movement — no swings, no bouncers, no containers. Your baby spends the day on a floor bed, reaching for mobiles, grasping rings, and pulling up on low bars.

Infants work on:

  • Gross motor development (rolling, sitting, crawling, walking)
  • Fine motor skills (grasping, transferring, reaching)
  • Language acquisition (sign language, sounds, first words)
  • Social-emotional bonding with a consistent caregiver

Toddler Daycare Red Deer — Ages 19 Months to 3 Years

Ratio: 1 staff to 6 toddlers (Alberta requires 1:6)

Toddlers learn practical life skills — pouring water, spooning beans, buttoning frames, washing tables. They are not told to sit still. They move. They repeat the same activity 12 times. That is concentration developing.

Toddlers work on:

  • Toilet training (we partner with you on timing and approach)
  • Language explosion (vocabulary, two-word phrases, simple sentences)
  • Practical life (dressing, eating, cleaning up)
  • Social skills (sharing, waiting, using words)

Preschool Daycare Red Deer — Ages 3 to 5 Years

Ratio: 1 staff to 10 preschoolers (Alberta requires 1:10)

Preschoolers work with Montessori materials for language, math, sensorial, geography, and science. A 4-year-old at Brainy Bees traces sandpaper letters, builds the pink tower, and counts bead chains. By kindergarten, they write their name and add single-digit numbers.

Preschoolers work on:

  • Reading (phonetic sounds, blending, early reading)
  • Math (quantity, numerals, addition, subtraction)
  • Sensorial (size, shape, color, texture, sound)
  • Geography and culture (continents, countries, traditions)
  • Science (botany, zoology, earth science)

Before and After School Care — Kindergarten Age

We pick up kindergarten students from 9 Red Deer schools at dismissal and bring them to Brainy Bees for the afternoon. Children eat snack, play outside, and choose from Montessori materials. PD days and school breaks are included.

What makes Montessori different from regular daycare:

Questions Red Deer Parents Ask About Daycare

How do I know if my child is ready for daycare?

Children are ready when they can separate from you for 2 to 3 hours without extreme distress. Most children reach this between 9 and 15 months. We offer a gradual transition — three short visits before the first full day.

What is your waitlist like for infant daycare?

Infant spots (0-18 months) typically have a 3-month waitlist. Toddler and preschool spots have shorter waitlists or immediate availability. The fastest way to check is to call 825-559-2337.

Do you accept the Alberta subsidy?

Yes. We are a licensed facility, so we accept the Alberta Affordable Child Care Subsidy.

What happens if my child has special needs?

We have children with Cerebral Palsy, speech delays, autism, and behavioral challenges currently enrolled. Call and ask for Soumya (owner) to discuss your child’s specific needs.

Do you provide meals?

Yes. All meals and snacks are included. We follow Canada’s Food Guide. We accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions with a doctor’s note.

What is your discipline policy?

We use positive guidance and natural consequences. No time-outs, no shaming, no punishment. A child who hits learns to get a cold pack for the other child and practice gentle hands. A child who throws food helps clean the floor.

What is the difference between daycare and Montessori daycare?

Regular daycare focuses on supervision and play. Montessori daycare focuses on developing concentration, independence, and academic skills through self-directed work with specialized materials. See the comparison table above for details.

You have read the reviews. You have seen our programs. You have compared us to other Red Deer daycare centers.

Now come see the classrooms. Bring your child. Watch them pour water into a pitcher. Watch them trace sandpaper letters. Watch them concentrate for 20 minutes on one activity.

That concentration is not normal daycare behavior. It is Montessori.
