Our summer camp in Red Deer is designed for children ages 3–6, blending Montessori learning with outdoor exploration, creativity, and hands-on fun all summer long. Most summer programs in Red Deer offer supervision with activities layered on top. Our summer camp is open to children ages 3 to 6, including those in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and children who have completed kindergarten and are heading into Grade 1. You do not need to be a current Brainy Bees student to enroll. New families are welcome.

Montessori Practical Life and Sensorial activities continue through the summer with a seasonal focus. Children may wash fresh vegetables from a local market, arrange summer flowers, sort seeds and leaves by texture, or pour and measure with water outdoors. These activities maintain the fine motor skills, concentration, and independence built during the school year — they do not disappear over the summer.
Summer is an opportunity to expand into creative work that the school-year schedule leaves less room for. Children in our Montessori summer camp in Red Deer explore painting, collage, clay work, printmaking, and mixed media art. Music is integrated daily — singing, rhythm instruments, and movement. Creative expression in the Montessori tradition is open-ended: there is no template, no model to copy, no "right answer."
STEM exploration in our summer camp is hands-on and age-appropriate. Children build structures with natural and wooden materials, observe cause-and-effect in simple experiments with water, ramps, and weights, and explore patterns in nature. The goal is not to teach engineering concepts — it is to develop the habit of asking "what happens if..." and finding out.
The Montessori summer camp environment at Brainy Bees is deliberately mixed-age. Older children (5–6) naturally mentor younger ones. Younger children (3–4) observe and aspire. Friendships form across ages, not just within them. Children practice conflict resolution, cooperation, and grace and courtesy in real situations throughout the day — not in scripted lessons.
Our Montessori summer camp in Red Deer includes exciting field trip experiences throughout the summer. Field trip fees are applied separately from the monthly fee. Destinations and experiences are selected to complement the Montessori curriculum — nature sites, community spaces, and hands-on venues that extend classroom learning into the wider world.
Monthly fee: $326.25. Field trips and a one-time registration fee are applied separately. The Alberta Affordable Child Care Subsidy is accepted, as Brainy Bees is a licensed childcare facility.
Spots in our Montessori summer camp in Red Deer are limited. We do not overenroll. If you are considering summer camp, contact us as early as possible to check availability. Summer fills faster than the school year program.
There are summer programs in Red Deer that offer swimming, crafts, and outdoor time. Brainy Bees offers those things too — but within a Montessori environment staffed by certified Early Childhood Educators, in a licensed facility, with the same child-first philosophy that guides our year-round program.
